With everyone being recommended to stay home, I thought I’d document what I’ve been watching in the past week to give recommendations in case you’re wanting to watch something new. Now’s the time to start watching those shows or movies that you say to yourself that you want to watch, but never get around to. I wouldn’t say that I’ve been watching TV all day everyday, but this past week and a half I feel like I’ve watched a fair amount of shows that I wouldn’t have gone through as quickly if there wasn’t so much time on our hands! Here’s what I’ve been watching:
Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this show, and just got around to watching it this past week and catching up on all the episodes on Hulu! I’m surprised at how much I’ve been enjoying it. It has a stellar cast with Adam DeVine from Pitch Perfect and Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls. Without giving too much away it’s about this girl who suddenly has the power to read people’s minds through song. While everyone else is going about their day, Zoe sees a full on musical production from one person, where the song they sing relates to how that person is feeling. Does that make sense? Anyways, it’s a really good show if you want to check it out!
Say Yes to the Dress
It’s been a while since watching Say Yes to the Dress on TLC, and while the show based in New York’s Kleinfeld is the classic, I’ve been obsessed with Say Yes to the Dress: England. The stylist Gok is my current favorite person in the entire world and I want to travel to England to go to this boutique whenever I’m getting married in the future. My Mom and I binge-watched all the available episodes and I’m having major Gok withdrawals now!
Younger
Once I caught up on all the available episodes of Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist, I was wanting to watch something new. I landed on Younger, and while I had seen a few episodes here and there within the past few years, I never watched it consistently. I love Hilary Duff and have always wanted to watch the show, but I feel like it was never available until now? I’m only about 5 episodes in, and it’s something that I’ve found myself watching to pass the time! A rundown of the show is that it’s about this 40-year old recently divorced woman, who starts pretending to be a 26-year old woman to get a job in New York City.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
I’m currently reading Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, and I was texting my brother about a million times saying how much I wanted to watch the movies. I grew up on watching them and we had all the action figures, and reading the book just brings back so many of those memories. So we decided to start the first movie, and once you watch one, you can’t stop there right?! The movies are basically at least 3 hours long each, so to pass the time at night we ended up watching them in four days. No regrets!
John Mulaney Comedy Shows
Ever since 2016, John Mulaney has been and currently is my favorite comedian. My brother and I ended up going to see him in January of 2017 when he was on his Kid Gorgeous tour, and it was one of the best nights ever! So it had been a while since watching all of his shows available on Netflix, and now was the perfect time to rewatch and have a laugh! I have yet to watch his recent special called John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch, but give me a week and I’ll probably have watched it!
And that about wraps up all that I’ve been watching this past week and a half in social distancing! As much as I try to be productive throughout these days at home, it’s been so easy to resort to watching shows and movies. I’m ready for everything to get back to normal and be able to see the rest of my family, and hopefully it does soon. Stay safe everyone, hope you have a great week!
