What I’ve Been Listening To This Past Month

What I’ve Been Listening To This Past Month

Ah music. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love music. I can go from one genre to the next not only every day, but basically every hour of every day! There’s nothing better than taking on the day with great songs, albums, and playlists. To me, it really is a mood changer. So today, I thought I’d share what I’ve been listening to all throughout January, as well as my favorite songs that I discovered during the month!

Albums

Melodrama by Lorde

I’ve mentioned Lorde’s Pure Heroine in my fall music post, but this past month I’ve had Melodrama on repeat! This album came out in the summer of 2017, and I remember it was one of the best albums of that year. It totally deserved a Grammy in my opinion, but hey that’s just me! I love this album, and I can’t believe I hadn’t listened to it from start to finish in forever! Lorde killed it and I couldn’t listen to it enough this month. “Supercut,” “Perfect Places,” and “Sober II (Melodrama) are some of my favorite songs on this album and I highly recommend giving them a listen! I can’t wait for Lorde to release more music, she is one of my all time favorite artists who never disappoints.

Rumours– by Fleetwood Mac

Now this album was on my fall music list, but I’ve been listening to “Dreams” nonstop this past month and I have, yet again, gone through another Fleetwood Mac phase! This is just another great album that I’ve really enjoyed this past month.

My Playlists on Spotify

soundtrack of 2019

I don’t know about you guys, but although my 2019 music recap on Spotify was for the most part accurate, I felt like it missed a couple of my favorite songs that I found later in the year! So I thought I would go through all of the best songs that I discovered throughout 2019 and put it all in one place. Some of my favorite songs from 2019 that are included in this playlist were LP’s “Strange” and “Girls Go Wild,” as well as “Downtown” by Majical Cloudz. I love how this playlist brings me back to certain memories and moments that happened throughout the busy year that 2019 was!

THRIVE

Thrive is my favorite word. When I think of life, I think about how I want to thrive and not just survive. I want to make the absolute most of my life and not settle, and this playlist embodies that mentality to me! These songs make me feel good and want to live life to the fullest, and just go for my dreams! Some favorite songs on here are “Leave a Trace” by CHVRCHES, “Kings and Queens” by 30 Seconds to Mars, and “Water” by Ra Ra Riot.

||HEY MR. DJ||

I know DJ’s aren’t for everyone, but back in 2013 I was obsessed with Calvin Harris and Zedd, and I still love them to this day. So I decided one day during January to go through all of my songs on Spotify and create a playlist with all the DJ’s and electronic songs, and the list ended up being over 100. This is the perfect playlist to workout to and get work done if you aren’t in the mood for hip hop. Just a little something upbeat that makes you want to get up and dance! Songs that first come to mind on this playlist is “Shelter” by Porter Robinson and Madeon, “Lost in Japan” by Shawn Mendes ft. Zedd, and “Back 2 U” by Steve Aoki ft. Walk the Moon. Oh yea, and I just recently found this artist Whethan who is amazing and his song “Good Nights” ft. Mascolo is one of my favorites of his.

Songs on Repeat

“Time” by Colouring

This is one of those songs that you immediately fall in love with upon first listen, and I can’t get enough of it! I’ve listened to this song about a million times.

“I’m Gonna Be” by Post Malone

I only discovered this song last week, but I think I’ve listened to it…maybe 50 times?! This song just makes you want to conquer the world and go after your dreams!

“Me and Ur Ghost” by blackbear

This is another song that I’ve recently discovered, and the beat is KILLER. When that beat drops, it’s everything.

“Now I’m In It” by HAIM

If one song could embody me, and convey perfectly where I’m at right now in life, it would be this song. This song released around Halloween of last year, and ever since it came out I keep coming back to it and keep playing it every chance I get. It just speaks to me on another level: “Looking in the mirror again and again, wishing the reflection would tell me something, I can’t get a hold of myself, I can’t get outta this situation.”

And that is my music recap for this past month! Although there has been other music that I’ve been listening to, what I’ve shared today is what I’ve been listening to the most. I feel like this music has helped me get out of these winter blues! I hope you found some music that you’d want to listen to today. I’m a little biased when I say the songs I mentioned today are amazing, but you can decide on that! Happy Monday everyone, hope you have a great week!
