I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I’ve done an updated what I’ve been listening to post! Looking back on my last one in April, I realize there’s been a lot of great music that’s come out since then, and I’m excited to share what I’ve found today! I had mentioned a couple in my favorites post last month, but trust me, there’s way more than that!
Podcasts
Talkin’ Baseball
This is a podcast I mentioned, and it’s still one of my favorites that I can’t stop listening to! They upload new episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and I never miss an episode. If you love baseball and want to know what’s going on in the league, check out this pod.
The Ground Up Show
I’ve mentioned Matt D’Avella on here before, and I really love his podcast. He hasn’t released any new episodes in a while, but I’ve been enjoying going through all of his episodes and listening to them. I just leave his podcast feeling really positive and motivated to go after my dreams!
Albums
Lorde – Pure Heroine
This is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time list. I love this album and can never ever ever get sick of it, and I’ve been listening to it a lot recently on my drives, especially “Ribs” and “A World Alone.”
HAIM – Women in Music Pt.III
Back in late June, HAIM released their third studio album, and I’ve been loving it. I loved all their singles leading up to the album, like “I Know Alone” and “Don’t Wanna,” but some of my favorites on the album would have to be “Gasoline” and “3 AM.”
Ellie Goulding – Brightest Blue
This is a recent release, and by recent I mean it came out Friday the 17th, and man I’ve been waiting and waiting for Ellie Goulding to release a new album for years! I was a freshman in college when her last album came out, and that was almost five years ago! I’ve already listened to the album all the way through twice, and this is definitely going to be on repeat. Some favorites would have to be “Tides” and “Slow Grenade.”
Lorde – Melodrama
Here’s another Lorde album that I can’t get enough of! I mentioned this back at the beginning of the year, and it’s come around again. I don’t know, Lorde’s albums are just great to drive to. She’s definitely one of my top 3 favorite artists and I can’t wait for her to release new music.
My Playlists on Spotify
that 2020 feeling
So at the beginning of the year I created this playlist, and it’s become one of my favorites. It’s a playlist that is ongoing because every time I fall in love with a new song, I add it to this playlist. So this playlist consists of all my favorite songs that I’ve found this year, and it’s getting pretty lengthy with over 30 songs, and we’re just over halfway through the year! 2020 has definitely been a good music year.
Sun’s Out
This is another playlist that ended up on my summer favorites, and it’s perfect for those summer drives. Like I said in that post, it perfectly embodies that summer feeling for me!
82 for 30
Back in quarantine, my best friend and I did this 30-day song challenge where we’d send each other a song (or 2 or 3 and some days maybe 5) a day. Each day had a theme basically, like songs you listened to in your preteens or a song by someone whose voice you love and so on. Instead of sending 30 songs, I ended up sending 82 songs, hence the 82 for 30 title. This playlist has a lot of my favorite songs of all time on there or songs I remember from childhood, and I really enjoy listening to it!
Black Dodge Ram
Back last year I created this playlist, and it’s titled Black Dodge Ram because my oldest brother had that car growing up and he would drive my other brother and I to school. When I think of that truck and our drives to school, we listened to a lot of hip hop and rap from the 00’s, and so I put all of those songs in a playlist to reminisce on. I’ve been listening to it a lot these past couple of days and it had to be mentioned! I worked out to it the other day and I probably enjoyed it a little to much hahaha.
Songs on Repeat
“If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know) by The 1975
“Somebody” by Dagny
“What Should I Say” by The 1975
“I Know Alone” by HAIM
“When Am I Gonna Lose You” by Local Natives
“Maybe You’re the Reason” by The Japanese House
“Gone” by Charli XCX and Christine and the Queens
“Baby Blue” by Rence
I normally would go into depth about why I like each song above, but that’s 8 descriptions that would make this post way too long! But trust me when I say that they are all incredible and are definitely in my that 2020 feeling playlist. I feel like I’ve discovered so much new music recently and I’m a little obsessed with multiple songs at the moment. Even though 2020 has kinda sucked so far, at least there’s been some good music along the way.
And that sums up all the music and podcasts I’ve been listening to nonstop, hope you have a great week!
