What I’ve Been Doing (Trying to be Productive)

On Monday, I posted about the shows and movies I’ve been watching during this time of staying home, and I thought today I’d share what else I’ve been doing! It’s been such a weird time. Although I’m home with my parents, I haven’t seen the rest of my family in well over a week, but it honestly feels like I haven’t seen them in a month. I miss them so much! I’m trying to be productive, but there’s just only so much you can do. So here’s some things of what I’ve been doing to pass the time:

Journaling

Someone posted on Facebook the other day a quote from The Diary of Anne Frank, and although I do love to journal to begin with, it inspired me to want to journal even more during this crazy time. The quote was, “It seems to me that later on neither I nor anyone else will be interested in the musings of a thirteen-year-old school girl. Oh well, it doesn’t matter. I feel like writing.” This is such a weird and unusual time in our history, and maybe you or other people in the future will want to sit down and read what it was like during this time firsthand. Sure maybe only you will read it, or it could become a bestselling book and one of the greatest pieces of history, but I don’t know, I just feel like it’s important to remember this time, that way we don’t take things for granted and appreciate more in the future. And hey, I do just feel like writing too!

Cleaning and Reorganizing

I don’t know about you, but this is the most consistent I’ve been about keeping my room clean and tidy. Usually it’s a once every couple of weeks’ occurrence that I finally get around to doing it, but with all this time, it has been pretty spotless if I do say so myself. At the beginning of the self-isolation I took my own advice from my decluttering tips and wrote out a list of all the things I wanted to organize and rearrange in my room and have been steadily ticking all of them off. For instance, I absolutely hated the look of my bookshelf. Because I’ve been in a buying new books rampage, it was very disorganized and it just made me scowl every time I looked at it! But, alas! I had the time to take it shelf by shelf and it is actually appealing to look at now! Sure I still have a lot of books, but it isn’t as scattered and disorganized as before!

Golfing…Yes, You Read That Right

I’m in the same house I was in growing up, and we have a little bit of land in the front yard. Not acres upon acres or anything, but enough to throw around the baseball in the front yard and even hit golf balls comfortably. Back when I was in 8thgrade, we had really bad tornadoes that went through Alabama in April of 2011, and lost power for days. To pass the time, my brother and I hit golf balls in the front yard. I say that because when thinking of things to do to pass the time, golfing was one of the first things that popped into my mind. Of course it rained day after day, but when the sun finally came out, I took the opportunity to go out in the front yard and take a few of swings. And by a few, I mean a lot, my hands currently have so many blisters and my back is still sore!! I really think I missed my calling (JK). It’s funny because after a couple of days, I think I ended up inspiring my neighbors because when my Dad and I were taking a few swings, I looked across the street and our neighbors were doing the exact same thing on their land!!!

Watching Shows

I devoted a whole post to what I’ve been watching, so I won’t go into too much detail here, but I feel like it’s one of the only things to do some days. It just makes me feel extra lazy, so I honestly haven’t watched too much recently, other than at night of course. I did start Little Fires Everywhere the other day, and I like it a lot! If only all the episodes were released at once!

Working Out

If I wasn’t already in the habit of working out, I’d probably be making it one right about now. I’m so thankful that I already have equipment at home that I use, or else I don’t know what I’d be doing. I’m thinking in the next week or so starting one of the Yoga with Adriene 30 days of yoga that’s on her YouTube page to pass the time even more. I’ve always wanted to and now I think it’s the perfect time!

Mario Karting? Let’s Make That a Word

This time has made me reminisce and feel like a middle school girl all over again. I haven’t played Mario Kart in YEARS, I’m talking about 7 years probably, and now was the perfect time to set it up and pass some time. Let me tell you, I’m a Mario Kart champ now.

And those are some of the things I’m doing to pass the time! I also have been reading too, but I was already planning on making a post devoted to what I’ll be reading next week! Anyways, it’s been weird not having the option to go see my brother’s and their families during this time, but I know it’s what’s best. I just miss them a lot. I hope you guys are staying sane during this quarantine and chill time and have a great weekend!!
