I’ve been hit with some major wanderlust recently. Anyone else? I’ve just been yearning and dreaming of traveling and exploring the world. Wandering the streets of new places and submerging myself into new cultures, eating delicious food sounds like the most amazing experience. I just wish I could go now! I’ve only ever left the country twice in my life, but that never stopped me from dreaming of going to new places and back to places that I’ve already been. There’s just something inspiring and awing about observing new surroundings, it’s almost like a giddy sort of feeling? I just want to learn about how things are done and what the norm is for different people. I’m the type of person that never wants to stop learning and seeing the way people do things, and maybe apply those things to my life because I never want to stop improving on myself!
Today, I thought I’d share with you the places I’ve been dreaming of going to the most. If I could plan five trips right now, these are the places that I would want to go to!
London
I’ve mentioned it on here a few times, but London has a special place in my heart. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity during high school to go on a school trip to Europe, and we spent two days in the city of London. I would’ve been content staying in London for the rest of the week long trip, but hey, that’s just me. I love London, and it’s not because of their gorgeous accents or because that’s where Harry Potter took place, those are just bonuses! I’m a small town girl, but wandering around in the big city was just a dream. I love the idea of walking everywhere and not having to drive your car to get there. I loved taking the Underground, and I loved the history of the city. Being able to walk past Big Ben and hang around Trafalgar Square, it seems like yesterday! I loved walking around the city and seeing St. Paul’s Cathedral and thinking about how this was where Princess Diana got married in 1981. Going to Buckingham Palace and thinking this is where people stood to see so many events in history happen was surreal. When I got back from that trip, it really ignited a love and appreciation for history. I loved exploring Europe and thinking about how these cities possess so much history and I wanted to know it all!
It was funny, I loved London before that trip, but when I was there, I fell in love with it even more! If I could live anywhere in the world, London would absolutely be the place I’d reside.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one place that I’ve never been to before, but that hasn’t stopped me from dreaming about it every time I see a picture! I can’t really explain why, but it’s always been one place that I’ve always wanted to go to. After reading books like The Diary of Anne Frank and The Book Thief, I’ve always wanted to go there and explore and go to the museums, especially the Anne Frank House.
Another really random reason why I want to go there, besides the history, is because I’m 5’11, and being tall is actually a pretty standard height over there. I would love to just go shopping in the Netherlands to see what kind of experience it would be! If everyone’s tall, then that would mean that they wouldn’t have to worry about jeans, dresses, and everything else being too short, right? I know being 5’11 isn’t super tall compared to all the over 6’ gals out there, but I do get comments about my height and tower over people, all the time. I’d love to see what it’s like walking around the streets. I don’t know, I just feel like I’d fit in there haha. Not saying you have to fit in anywhere, but you get what I mean!
Denver
I guess technically I’ve been to Colorado, but I don’t know, having a 40-minute layover in the Denver Airport just doesn’t seem to count to me! For the past couple of years, I’ve just felt Colorado calling me. I’ve always said give me a place with a view and I’ll be happy, but give me a mountain view and I’ll be even happier! I’ve always wanted to learn how to snowboard and I love hiking, and Colorado just seems like the most beautiful place in the world. I honestly don’t know how to explain it, but I’ve always been drawn to this place even though I’ve never been there and explored it. I just know deep inside somehow that I would love it!
Switzerland
Switzerland is another place on my list that I would love to go hiking in. I don’t have a specific city in mind, but honestly the entire place looks beautiful and I’d be happy going to any city there. I remember there was this girl that I saw outdoor ice skating over there on one of the frozen ponds with an epic view of the mountains surrounding her, and ever since then I knew Switzerland was one place that I’d want to go. It just seems breathtakingly beautiful and I would love to explore around that country.
Seattle
My Mom grew up in Seattle, Washington, and while I have been there before when I was really little, I sadly don’t remember much. I just want to go there and explore with my Mom, and see all the places she grew up with and hear all of her stories about the city. I don’t know how to explain it, but Seattle is just another one of those places that feels like home in a sense, although I’ve never been there in my adulthood. It’s like there’s a piece of me there? I don’t know, I sound kinda crazy, don’t I?
And that wraps up the places that I’d like to book a ticket to immediately! I’ve really had the travel bug recently, even though I can’t go anywhere right this minute. I just want to stop what I’m doing and catch a plane to anywhere and everywhere. The wanderlust is real! Maybe if I work hard this year, I’ll be able to go to one of these amazing places. I just want to see more of the world already!! I know it was a random post today, but I hope this post inspired some wanderlust for you! I’d love to know what places you’ve been aching to go to <3 Hope you all have a great weekend!
