One of the best parts about the holiday season is all of the delicious food and drinks you get to consume. Christmas season brings all the delicious sweet treats that, if you were ever like my family growing up, was a special occasion because we never had candy in the house unless it was a holiday. It just makes the occasion more special in my opinion. But anyways, I’ve been the legal drinking age going over a little over a year now, and I’ve had my fair share of trying different drinks and cocktails. Although there are so many great combinations, I’m not a bartender, and buying all the different ingredients for different recipes can be very expensive if you want to make them at home. Today, I thought I’d show you my ridiculously easy holiday cocktail recipes that don’t require more than two items! Actually, I wouldn’t consider them mine because I didn’t invent them, it was more so through hearsay, and maybe you’ve already heard of them, but hey maybe you haven’t! Regardless of whether you’ve heard of these or not, they are my favorite drinks for this time of year!!!
Mint Hot Chocolate
If you love York Peppermint Patty’s, then you’ll love this drink. All you have to do is make your regular hot chocolate (if you do homemade than you’re awesome, but I’m lazy and just get the Swiss Hot Chocolate). Once you’ve made your hot chocolate, are you ready for it? Just add a shot of mint flavored liqueur and stir it all up. My favorite is the Mentholmint from Dr. McGillicuddy’s. If you drink it straight up it tastes like mouthwash or toothpaste, but it’s real smooth going down. However, this brand for whatever reason is really hard to get where I’m at, so I think any mint liqueur would do the trick! If you’re ever bored of the standard hot chocolate, this is a great option to spice it up a little bit!!!
Spiked Eggnog
I know the standard thing to put in eggnog is rum, but I prefer putting in some Fireball. I’ve always had a love affair with cinnamon. It’s been one of my favorite smells and candy flavors for years and years, so I love this easy combo. All you have to do is buy your favorite eggnog, then add a shot of Fireball whiskey and stir. You can add some nutmeg to garnish if you want! This is definitely one of my favorite things to drink during the holiday season. It totally changed the way I looked at eggnog!!
And there you have it! Not the most creative thing in the world, and it’s definitely not my most original content, but I thought it would be great to share some not so expensive cocktails that you can make easily on your own, instead of going out and buying cocktails the price of a whole container of alcohol. I don’t really drink that often, at home or away, but when I do these are the types of “special drinks” I enjoy. They are really simple, but really delicious and I recommend giving them a try! Oh yea and remember, drink responsibly people!!!!
