Ok. I hate to admit it, but there’s been a lot of good sales going on, not only at the beginning of this year, but the weeks leading up to Christmas. Since I had most of my Christmas shopping for the fam already done, I may or may not have splurged and bought some stuff here or there, and then splurged on some stuff for the new year. My wallet probably hates me, but honestly, I’m excited about all of the stuff that I got! I just want to disclaim that all of these purchases were not all at the same time, and I had my friend Afterpay to thank that made this all possible. So here’s an accumulation of the things I bought, ranging from clothes to books to skincare. And trust me when I say, I’m not buying anything for a real long time. I’m totally covered and don’t need anything more!
#1 Books of Poetry
Poetry has always been something that I had a hard time getting into. I would just read some poems and make absolutely no sense of it. But last year, I really loved Morgan Harper Nichols and I kept finding her beautifully written words on Instagram and Pinterest. I ended up buying her book Storyteller last year and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to give poetry another shot! So when I was doing some Christmas shopping on Amazon, I picked up some books of poetry for myself. The first one I actually bought because someone I follow mentioned it in a video, and she gave a sample of Pavana Reddy’s work and I really loved it, so I wanted to grab her new book. And then, in the recommended section of Amazon, I saw this book called Dear Midnight by Zach Grey. It was another one of those things where I read a sample and really fell in love with the words on the page. I’ve been waiting to start these, and I can’t wait to dive into them this new year!
#2 Books in General
Although I’ve gotten so many new books recently, I went to Target with my Mom, which is always a dangerous thing. I was meandering through their book section when I noticed that they were having a buy 2 books get 1 free sale, and I had already been eyeing a couple. I thought that maybe I could get two books and gift the free one if I found some that I liked. And yes, of course, I found some that intrigued me. I picked up this novel called The German Girl, and it really stood out to me. It’s based on the true story of a girl back in 1939 that had to flee to Cuba to escape Jewish persecution. Another novel that I picked up was One Day in December. All I needed to do was see that the cover had a red double decker bus, signifying that it was based in London. Need I say more? London has a special place in my heart even though I’ve only been there once, so, I needed that one! It seems like just a typical romance book, but hey, what’s wrong with that?
#3 Elemis Skincare
I had a 20% off coupon for products on Ulta, and since I was running out of my Purity cleanser, I thought it would be a good time to use it! I picked out this one from Elemis because it was clean and they had really good reviews on Ulta’s site. It also came with some nice samples 🙂 I’m eager to finish off the Purity gel cleanser so I can test this one out!
#4 Kopari Deodorant
Let’s get onto a fun topic, deodorant! I’m really interested in trying clean deodorants that don’t have any bad stuff in them, and I’m currently using Native. Native took a couple of weeks to get used to, but it eventually grew on me. Fun stuff! But jokes aside, I saw Kopari had good reviews on their original deodorant, so I thought I would test this one out and compare to see which clean product I liked better! Not so glamorous part of the shopping haul, but hey, it’s what I picked up!
#5 Mia Colten Chelsea Boot
For whatever reason, it can take me forever to buy a new pair of everyday shoes. I’ve had my Adidas and Converse sneakers for years, and boy, they are in ROUGH shape. Since DSW was having a 15% off sale I thought it would be a good time to pick up a pair of shoes that I can wear everyday. Thanks to Afterpay, I only have to pay around $11 every two weeks for these! They’re super cute and I think they will look great dressed up or down!
#6 George-Mary’s Sweaters
Back in September I bought a new sweater from one of my favorite boutiques George-Mary’s over in Starkville, MS, that I included in my fall fashion favorites post. It’s one of the softest sweaters I’ve ever owned, and I compare every single sweater I have to it. I wish I could buy everything from GM! When they announced 30% off online on their boutique, I knew I had to hop on and support one of my favorite small businesses! I ended up picking two sweaters that I can add to my ever growing sweater collection. I didn’t realize how many gray sweaters I owned till recently, so I went with a nice beige color to spice it up a little bit (jk, totally neutral). Another thing I picked up was this black turtleneck sweater that is the softest material ever. I never thought in a million years I would love turtlenecks when I got older, but here I am, buying turtlenecks. Who am I?
And that finally wraps up my haul! There’s a lot of new things here that I can’t wait to try and test out. Like I said, I’m excited about all my purchases and won’t be spending any money anytime soon! Frugal February, anybody? Anyways, hope you guys have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by today 🙂
