New Cleanser Review

New Cleanser Review

Ok, so a few months ago and by months I mean…5 months ago, I mentioned that I had bought a new cleanser in my New Year’s Haul. I had previously been using Purity’s Gel Cleanser, and I thought I would use it up pretty quickly right after the New Year, hence buying a new cleanser to replace that one. I don’t know if it was just refilling on its own or what, but it took me forever to use up the rest of that cleanser!!! I should probably state here that I’m not perfect in my skincare routine and don’t cleanse my face every single day. I try to, but on a good week I probably only cleanse my skin 3-5 times. I don’t like cleansing in the morning, especially if I cleansed it that night, but I usually cleanse when I take a shower. But anyways, regardless of my laziness, it took me forever to finish that freaking bottle! And I know what you’re thinking, why didn’t you just throw it away since it was probably already expired and start the new one? Well, I just wanted to get my complete money’s worth and not just throw it away when there was still product in there!

So, once I finally finished that Purity bottle, I got to put my brand new, beautiful Elemis bottle on my bathroom sink to try. It looks small in the picture above, but this cleanser is a 5 ounce bottle. I should mention that I get a little weird with trying new skincare and am super picky when looking for a new product to try out. I’m trying to go the all natural route, and it’s super convenient that on Ulta’s website they have a natural skincare section that you can browse through. I know that everyone is unique and people can react to products differently, but I always try to go for the products that have the most reviews and the highest number of stars. Sure there could be a five star product, but if only 100 people reviewed it as opposed to 1000, I don’t know, I just feel like I trust the bigger number more! I want to know that I’m getting my money’s worth when buying a new product. But anyways, this Elemis cleanser fit my guidelines of having great reviews and seeming pretty popular on Ulta’s website. Ever since it arrived I’ve been excited about giving it a go!

When I used it the first time, I thought it had a really nice scent that’s not overpowering at all. I can’t quite put my finger on what the smell is, but my first thought was ginger or some sort of spice in that family. It’s super nice though and it makes you trust that it is a natural product.

The color of the cleanser is basically the exact same color as the bottle, and it’s this nice lightweight consistency. It feels even greater when you put it on the skin because it feels so smooth! From what I’ve heard, you know you have a good cleanser when you’re all done cleansing and you dry your face off with a towel. If your skin doesn’t feel tight afterwards, then that cleanser is a good fit for you and your skin. If your skin does feel tight, then the cleanser may be drying out your skin. I’ve been using this Elemis cleanser for about a month now, and I’ve never experienced a tightness of my skin after using it. On the contrary, my skin feels super smooth and refreshed after using the cleanser!

I wouldn’t say that this cleanser is the solution to all my skin problems and has completely cleared my skin of its redness and scarring, but I do think it feels amazing compared to any other cleanser I’ve used. My skin feels hydrated and refreshed after using it, and it doesn’t break me out which is an even bigger plus. After the first week or so I did notice breakouts right around my chin area, but I don’t think it was directly related to the cleanser since my face has cleared up and I haven’t continuously been breaking out since then. It might have been the case of me touching my face too much, or you know, just being a girl!

I really love this cleanser, and although I’m not perfect with cleansing my skin, this cleanser makes me want to be more consistent with my skin routine! Regardless, my skin has probably never been this clear and smooth before, and I’m not sure if it’s due to this cleanser or because I’ve only worn makeup about 3 times in the last 2 months…I guess it could be a mixture of both!

I’ve noticed that even when I cleanse the night before, my skin feels so soft throughout the entirety of the day and it feels much more hydrated. Using this product is the only thing that I’ve switched up in my skincare routine, and if you want to know the products, here’s my blog post that includes all I use! I’m running out of the toner and the moisturizer, and I noticed Elemis has a toner that has good reviews as well, but I don’t know if I want to test that out or just try something different. Hopefully gradually introducing new products into my routine will turn out well and not irritate my skin! I’ll be sure to update on all the changes in my routine when that time comes, but anyways, I hope you enjoyed my little review of this cleanser. Nothing super exciting and groundbreaking, but I just thought I’d share one product that I’ve been loving recently <3 Hope you have a great weekend!
