My Vinyl Collection

My Vinyl Collection

You may not know this about me, but I am a huge music lover. I’d have to say that my music taste is pretty diverse. I can easily go from Queen to The 1975 to Huey Lewis and the News to BØRNS, and it changes everyday depending on what I’m in the mood for! One of my favorite presents that I have ever received for my birthday a couple of years ago was a record player from my brother. I had always wanted one, and ever since then my vinyl collection has been slowly growing. For me, the fall time is the perfect time of the year to sit back and put on some of my records. It’s just something about putting on a record, listening to some great music that seems really cozy to me.

I know that record players have gotten pretty trendy in the last couple of years, and I have to admit that I do love this trend. I love listening to music the way that people for generations used to listen to it. It makes me wish I also grew up in those generations where you went out and bought the newest record from artists like David Bowie and Prince, and numerous other legendary artists. With music brings memories, and with each vinyl I have it brings me back to little memories I thought I’d share today 🙂

#1 Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Up From Below

Along with my record player from my brother, he also gave me my first vinyl, which was this album by Edward Sharpe. Ever since my senior year of high school, I have loved this group, and this is definitely my favorite album of theirs thought sounds amazing on my record player.

#2 Loverboy – Loverboy

This was Loverboys first album, and I guess not his most popular because I bought it at Second & Charles last year for like $3. It was a total steal because it is in such great condition. This was one of my Moms favorite albums that we would listen to, and it has easily become on of my favorites too!

#3 Mumford and Sons – Sigh No More

Mumford and Sons is by far one of my favorite bands, so I had to pick up this album when my vinyl collection was beginning to grow. In the future I plan to buy more of their records on vinyl, but for now, their first album is all I have and all I need!

#4 Electric Light Orchestra – Olé Elo

I grew up listening to the Electric Light Orchestra, so when I saw this in my Dad’s collection I had to “borrow” it! There are only like 9 songs on this album, so I’m definitely going to be on the hunt for getting more of their records on vinyl.

#5 Florence and the Machine –How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

I had the chance to see Florence in concert with my brother back in 2018, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. It was for her High as Hope album, which one day I hope to get on vinyl, but every time I listen to this album it brings me back to that incredible night.

#6 Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Soundtrack

Even though we were a little young to actually watch Saturday Night Fever with the one and only John Travolta (if you know the storyline then you’ll know why we never actually watched it), that didn’t stop my Mom showing us the amazing dance scenes from that movie. We grew up listening to the Bee Gees, so every time I listen to this record it brings me back to our family road trips, listening to their music.

#7 Bread – The Best of Bread

This was another one of my Mom’s favorites, and this is definitely one of my favorite records to listen to on my record player. Just think of laid back, chill, love songs and that’s what this album is. It’s one of the best albums to listen to in the fall in my opinion!

#8 The 1975 – The 1975

If you know me, then you’ll know that The 1975 is absolutely my favorite band. I love them so much, so it comes as no shocker that I got this on vinyl. I won’t lie though, this album doesn’t sound especially great on my record player, so I don’t put it on that often. It’s still one of my favorite albums of theirs, but I just typically stick to listening to it on Spotify.

#9 The Beach Boys – Endless Summer

I ended up getting this vinyl used, and it honestly kinda bums me out when I see it because I bought it not realizing that it was supposed to come with 2 parts. And of course, the other part had my favorite song “California Girls” on it!

#10 Aerosmith – Toys in the Attic

This is another album that reminds me of how amazing my Mom is. When I was in college, my birthday was on a Wednesday, right after labor day weekend. I had gone home that weekend to celebrate with my family already, so it just felt like another regular school day. That is until I got back to the house. I got the mail and there was a package to me, and it was this vinyl from my Mom! I don’t know how she got that package to come right on my actual birthday, but she did, and every time I see that vinyl it brings a smile to my face!

#11 The Temptations – Anthology

I know I’ve talked about how many vinyl’s remind me of my Mom, but this one reminds me of my Dad. He loves The Temptations, which also means that I love them too! This is another album that I “borrowed” and can’t wait to listen to this fall season.

#12 Fleetwood Mac – Rumours

My last and final vinyl to share today is the classic, the one and only, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album. Are you really into vinyl’s if you don’t have this vinyl? It’s legendary and amazing and I love it!

And that wraps up my vinyl collection! As you can tell, it includes artists from new and old. Some of these I “borrowed” from my Dad, some I’ve gotten at second hand stores, and some have been gifted. I’m going to try to listen to as many of these vinyl’s as I can during the fall time, and I’ll definitely be sharing the ones that I’m listening to the most in my upcoming “what I’ve been listening to” post! Thanks for stopping by today, hope you all have an amazing Monday and an amazing rest of your week!
