Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve loved dressing up and putting together outfits. Fashion has always been a way I could express myself. I could have a cool, street chic outfit one day, and the next day be a bohemian princess with warm, floral patterns. Or another day I could be a total blob and not care, but that’s not the focus of this post haha. In this post I’ve compiled a list of the five items I would choose to wear for the rest of my life if I was forced to get rid of everything else in my closet. From jewelry to accessories, to my most worn pieces of clothing, these items are the essential pieces of my wardrobe that I wear as much as possible.
- Clubmaster Classic Ray Bans
Every year for Christmas now that my brothers and I are older, my parents give us a set amount of money to choose what we want for Christmas that year. It doesn’t really have the element of surprise like it did when we were kids, but it is great being able to ensure you get the things on your list. My Senior year of high school, I took half of the money given to me to get the Clubmaster Classic Ray Bans. I’ve had these beauties for almost five years, and they still look brand new and I still love them just as much as I did the day I got them. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to buy pieces that will last me a long time. So buying quality products is essential! Would you rather spend your money on one item that will last you a really long time, or multiple items for the same amount of money that won’t last as long? That’s the question that I’m always asking myself. If I haven’t mentioned it before, I love numbers and the cost per use of items is rather intriguing to me. So, if I’ve had and worn these for over 1,500 days and they cost $150 at the time, that would mean my cost per wear is $0.10, which is a total win for me!
2. My Mom’s Gold Ring
Before I went off to college, my Mom gave me a ring of hers that she bought with her own big first paycheck way back in the day. This ring means so much to me and I think of her every time I wear it. Anytime I have to do things that are intimidating or just scares the crap out of me, I always wear this ring as a way to think that my Mom is with me and it gives me courage. It just means the world to me that she would give me this ring and I always think of her every time I wear it. Mom, if you’re reading this, thank you again I love you so much!!! I usually wear it on my middle finger, but I have to pair it with this simple gold band in order to secure the ring in place because it is a little big for my fingers.
3. Black Coach Purse
I’ve always been a neutral kind of gal. While there are people that have patterned purses or have their purse as the pop of color in an outfit that totally rock it, I’ve always stayed near the neutral side when it comes to bags, especially when it comes to the price point. My thing is, if you buy a specific color, that means that you can only wear that purse on certain occasions where the color matches the outfit. But, if you get a neutral black bag, there is no limit to what you could pair it with. I really wish I could splurge and buy bags in every shape and color, but it is more realistic for me right now to stay close to a black color because I can get more uses out of it. I’ve had this bag since 2016 and it’s still in great condition!
4. Over-Sized Denim Jacket
When I was babysitting the summer after my Freshman year, I splurged and bought what would become my favorite jacket in the entire world: my denim moto jacket from Top Shop. I remember one of the influencers I followed had one, and I thought it would be a staple piece in my wardrobe. I really wish that I could wear this everyday of the year, especially in the warmer months with all those pictures you see with the cute denim shorts and a jacket overtop, but that is not realistic in the hot, humid south. I would die. But, every time winter comes back around, I want to wear it every single day. I love the look with a sweatshirt underneath it with the hoodie poking out of the back. I love it with an oversized blanket scarf, I love it going out…you get the idea, I flipping love this jacket! I wish I could be bold enough to wear it with blue denim jeans too, but I feel like I can’t pull it off. I’d just feel like Blake Shelton all day long.
5. Black Denim Jeans
This item may seem like the most un-exciting, boring, predictable item on the list, but it really is my go to. Black jeans are the perfect in-between piece that you can style up or down no matter the occasion. For a night out on the town you can style it with a simple top and booties like I did in the outfit above and it makes it look more put together than wearing a basic pair of blue jeans. During the winter I love pairing these with the denim jacket listed above!
And that, my friends, wraps up my top five fashion essentials! Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I would love to know what fashion pieces you can’t leave the house without in the comments down below! Thank you again for stopping by and I hope you guys have an amazing day wherever you are <3
