My Summer 2020 Everyday Makeup Routine

My Summer 2020 Everyday Makeup Routine

I feel like makeup is something on here that I mention every once in a while in a haul, but not something I’ve ever gone into detail about. First off, I just want to say I love makeup. Back in 2015, right before I went to college, I thought I should learn how to do makeup because it was so foreign to me. All I used was mascara and a little bit of eye shadow. I thought makeup was just something covering up your true self, but that summer I realized how much of an art it is and how much fun it is to basically paint your face and enhance your beauty! It’s a confidence boost for sure, and ever since that summer I’ve been addicted. I loved watching beauty gurus do makeup, and I loved just learning and taking notes on what products are worth it to purchase. Tati Westbrook on YouTube was my favorite, and some of the products I have today were recommended by her!

I don’t really like to buy makeup that often because I like to keep it simple and just use the products I have without it being overwhelming. Sure I have 3 foundations, but compared to some that’s pretty minimal! So today, I thought I’d share my everyday makeup routine. It’s not full glam with killer eye looks, but it’s simple and what I need right now. Ok, maybe to some it’s not simple, but like I said, I love makeup and I love transforming my face everyday 🙂

Step 1: Base

What I consider to be my base is my facial primer, foundation, concealer, and setting powder. I mentioned getting a refill of this Catrice Keep Me Matt primer in my beauty haul, and I really think it has helped my makeup last throughout the day. At some point I will try exploring different primers out there, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right?

This L’Oreal Infallible foundation I also mentioned in my beauty haul, and this has become a fast favorite of mine! I have used it every single day! It’s got enough coverage to cover my redness, but it also feels so lightweight throughout the day! It says it’s a 24 hour foundation, and while I haven’t tested it that long, the 8 hours a day that I wear it it feels pretty great. Thankfully I picked out the right color, because I was a little hesitant choosing it online, but it is a great match for my skin tone.

I’ve used this Maybelline Age Rewind concealer for YEARS. It always gets the job done and I’ve loved the price point too. Once this runs out, I think I’m gonna try out some different concealers out there like the cult favorite Shape Tape from Tarte! But with this concealer, it’s easy to use and it feels lightweight throughout the day, and I never see it creasing underneath my eyes.

This Air Spun Loose Face Powder was a Tati Westbrook recommendation that doesn’t break the bank. There are setting powders that are really good and really expensive, but this was like $5 at Target! It’s lasted for over a year, and it doesn’t seem like I will use it all up anytime soon. The one bad thing I’d have to say about this powder is that I feel like I have it all over my sink from when you open the lid and put it on, but performance wise, it has done a great job setting my foundation and concealer and making it last throughout the day!

Step 2: Cheeks

So once my base is all done, I go in with another cult favorite product, the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I’ve been using this bronzer for years now, and I really don’t see myself picking up any other. It smells amazing and it performs amazing…what more could you ask for?

I got the BH Cosmetics Vanilla Cream Truffle blush palette in my beauty haul as well, and I must say I do love the colors. And this is another product that smells amazing! When I was looking at the reviews right before I bought it, it did say that it is light when you first apply, but it is easy to build up. And I would say that that is the case from using it this past month. It doesn’t really show up on my face when I first apply it, so I just dip back into the palette another time and it will show up. I’ve been enjoying all the colors except the top left one, I think that shade is just too light of a color for me!

I love the Champagne Pop highlight from Becca, but the one I had is way past expired, so I’ve been using this highlighter palette from Colourpop! My go to has been the bottom left, it has that hint of a peachy color and goes nicely on the skin. This has been a great highlighter for me, it doesn’t blind you when you see it, but it is simple and subtle!

Step 3: Eyes and Eyebrows

I think I mentioned on here a while back that I have oily eyelids, and I ended up purchasing the Mac Painterly Paint Pot for an eyelid primer, and I do think it helps! I just use my fingers to apply it, and then my eyelids are ready for my eye shadow. My everyday makeup looks consists of no over the top, elaborate eye makeup look, but this product does help my simple eye look last throughout the day. The eye shadow I use is either from the Jaclyn Hill original palette from Morphe or the Tati Beauty Vol. 1 palette. I just go for one of the browns in either palette to pop in the outer corner of my eyes to make my eyes pop a little bit!

The next item I use is this eyebrow pencil from Revlon. There’s some people out there who say doing their eyebrows takes them forever, but I am so lazy when it comes to my brows! I just fill them in a little bit, then go with the spoolie to even things out. I want to spend less than 30 seconds on my brows, ok!?

My last step for my eyes is of course some mascara, and I use my tried and true go to, my Covergirl Clump Crusher. I love this mascara and I don’t think I will ever stop loving it or buying it! It doesn’t clump my lashes together and gives my lashes a nice, even look.

Step 4: Ready Set Go

And the last thing to do is set the face and I’m ready to go! I bought the Mac Fix Plus a while back, and it has done a great job. It locks everything in place, and I never feel like my makeup is melting off at the end of the day. It does have scent, but it fades pretty quickly and I can hardly notice.

This routine may feel like a lot, but I promise you this takes me about 15 minutes or less to do. Once you get it down and know what products you are using and when you are using it, you don’t have to think twice about anything. I think that’s another reason why I like having fewer makeup products because in the morning you don’t have to think about which bronzer color you have to use, you just go with the one you have! That’s usually how my base makeup goes. Now on days that I get extra dressed up, my eye makeup is probably the place where most of my time is spent. Maybe if this post goes well I can do one of those looks, but let’s get real, I’m not going anywhere right now that I would feel the need to do that!

And that wraps up my everyday summer makeup routine. Like I said, my face doesn’t feel like it’s cakey or the makeup is melting off after a couple of hours. It’s so lightweight and doesn’t irritate me by the end of the day. I feel like you know you have found the products that work for you when you forget you are even wearing makeup! I hope this post helps you if you are in the search of any products to try! Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have an amazing weekend!!!
