There is nothing greater to me than a day spent at home, not going anywhere. I would consider myself to be a midtrovert, or the proper term is an ambivert, where I have qualities of both an extravert and an introvert. So the introvert in me is coming to shine today! It’s nice to have one day a week, where you don’t have to go anywhere, and you can smash out your to do list. I said last Monday that I love a good to do list, and it is something that I can’t live without!
I like to have one day a week where I can get everything I need to get done, done. It’s a productive day, yet it’s casual at the same time! So today, I thought I’d share what I typically do on my off days, so…let’s get started.
Morning
I have to wake up early throughout the week nowadays, and it’s a great feeling at the end of the week to go to bed without having an alarm set. I just let my body take over and let it rest for however long it needs. I’d say that I wake up naturally around 9 to 10 AM, depending on how tired I am. On this day, it was closer to 9 AM.
Coffee Time
Once I wake up, I do my next favorite thing that I don’t get to do that often, and that is have coffee in bed. It’s relaxing, and to me, is just the perfect, laid back start to the day. I put my computer next to me and either watch YouTube or Netflix until all my coffee is gone, which takes 30-minutes to an hour.
Even though my bed is the most comfortable place in the world, I have to get out of it and make it. I can’t believe I’m that person now that makes their bed, but I am! Every single time I think about not doing it, I somehow end up doing it anyways because I like the look of it better. They say that making your bed in the morning makes you more productive throughout the day, and while that sometimes is true, I just like the look of it better than seeing all my décor pillows thrown on the floor, right in front of my dresser.
Laundry, Cleaning, Cleaning, and More Cleaning
And now that I’ve finished my cup of coffee, it’s time to get the productive day started. I go to my desk and I write out my to do list for the day, and I actually have a lot more on it than what I anticipated! It mostly consisted of some general cleaning, so not too bad. I haven’t been on my cleaning game as much recently, so all the things I didn’t do earlier in the week I aim to do on my off day, and it kind of piled up this week! Regardless, I just put on my headphones and get going, smashing out my list. Having good music playing really does make the mundane work not so bad!
Another thing that I’ve found helpful on my cleaning days is that when I do laundry, if I set a timer for each load, it makes me want to tick off more stuff that’s getting done. Also, I set a timer because more times than not I will do my laundry and then completely forget about it because I got distracted! Having that timer makes me remember that I have a load of wet clothes that need to be dried!
Afternoon
Lunch and Key and Peele
Now that I’ve knocked out most of my to do list, it’s time for lunch! When it comes to lunch, I don’t like trying to cook anything, so I just throw together my staple salad that includes lunch meat for protein, blueberries, spinach, and sunflower seeds. I don’t really like watching long TV shows during the middle of the day, so short 20-30 minute episodes are what I typically gravitate towards. I have the Key and Peele complete series, so I ended up just watching a couple of episodes of that. I haven’t watched the show in forever, and I’ve been really in need of a laugh, which that show totally delivers!
Cookies
So I don’t typically do this on my off day, but we had a party this past weekend, and I had to decorate some cookies! I give major props to all the bakers out there who do beautiful cookie decorations. I was just doing simple baseballs and it took an hour and a half!
Yoga
I usually workout when I’m at home all day, but because it was a busier than normal day, I only had time to squeeze in a 20-minute yoga session. I’m honestly disappointed in myself because I said on here that I loved doing my 30 day Yoga with Adriene challenge, and I’ve only been doing yoga every once in a while. I really want to do another challenge though, and get back into doing it everyday because I felt great benefits from doing it often!
Night
Chill Out
Although I didn’t smash out absolutely everything on my to do list, I got a good amount done. The best part of getting the cleaning done earlier in the day is that you don’t have much to do when the evening comes. On this day we actually had family coming over, so we had some baseball in the background and I got to play with my nephews! It was laid back and just what I needed to end my day!
It wasn’t a typical off day with the cookies and company coming over, but for the most part it was a pretty accurate day of trying to get stuff done that I had been putting off. Like I said, it’s great having days that you don’t have to go anywhere because you basically have no choice but to get it all done. Was it the most exciting day ever? No, but it is what I needed to recharge, and I’m thankful for those types of mundane days! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you all had a great weekend!
