So…I may or may not have a jewelry obsession. Ok, maybe not jewelry specifically, but I do have a ring obsession. I love rings, and that’s something I think I get from my Mom. Sure I’ll wear some necklaces here and there, but the one thing I always gravitate towards wearing is a ring or two, or three, or four. It’s an easy accessory to slip on and off, plus most of the pieces I wear mean a lot to me.
It had actually been a while since I had put on my rings because you know…uh… a pandemic was going on and we couldn’t go anywhere, and I didn’t have a reason to put them on. This past week I actually had worn a couple of them to work, and I forgot how good it felt to have them on. I’m usually really intentional about when I wear them, in the fear of losing one because it has happened to me in the past, but this week I decided to wear them just cuz, and I’m glad I did. So anyway, before I ramble on and on and on, I’m excited to share today my must have rings!
My High School Graduation Ring
This might be considered an unpopular opinion, but back in high school, I didn’t want a class ring. They just weren’t really my style, and I liked the idea of having a nice ring that I could wear on any occasion, other than just a ring that said class of 2015. My birthstone is sapphire, and I remember scouring the internet trying to find the perfect graduation ring. This ring was the start of my ring addiction. Once I got this ring, I knew I was in trouble!
My College Graduation Ring
Of course if I didn’t want a high school class ring, I didn’t want a college class ring either! Although I was tempted and did think I would get one, by the time a I graduated I wanted just a simple ring that was symbolic of the time I spent at Mississippi State. I think I’ve mentioned this ring before, but in case I haven’t, I got this ring for a pinky ring. I didn’t have one in my collection, and when I was scouring the Internet yet again for the perfect ring, I found this simple ring on Etsy. It is super tiny garnet stone that represents State’s maroon school colors, and I love the simplicity of this ring!
Gift From the Ring Queen Herself
A couple of years ago, when my Mom was out of town, she surprised me with this Alex and Ani ring. Little did she know that I had always wanted jewelry from there, and she came back with this adjustable sapphire ring, and I love it! It is definitely another ring that I gravitate towards wearing all the time, and I love how easily adjustable it is!
Belk Finds
Around the Christmas time, you may or may not find myself and my Mom in Belk, looking at the discounted rings. Every year we go Christmas shopping, it is an absolute must that we go in the jewelry section to have a look around the table with rings tiered from top to bottom. Some of our favorite pieces were found there for $20 dollars or less. We’ve had some great finds there, and one ring that has stood the test of time is this ring. I do have a lot of rings with stones, and this ring breaks that up a bit because it is just gold, and is a little chunkier than most of the rings I have.
Wonder Woman Ring
Ok, nerd alert warning. I, Maddie Vinton, am a huge Wonder Woman fan. I grew up with Lynda Carter’s 1970’s Wonder Woman TV show when I was little, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. When I found this ring on Etsy, I knew I had to get it. It is a little wider, and I thought that it would be the perfect thumb ring. I love how it doesn’t scream in your face that it’s a Wonder Woman ring, but is a slight not to a character that means a lot to me and reminds me of childhood.
My Mom’s Ring
So a while ago, I did a post about my top 5 fashion essentials, and these two rings made the list. Of all the rings that I own, this one is by far my favorite. Because it is my favorite, I have the fear of losing it, so I got this gold textured ring as a way to secure my Mom’s ring in place whenever I wear it. It’s like they were made for each other because they go together so nicely. If I ever have to choose one ring to wear out, this is definitely my first pick because it means a lot to me that my Mom would gift me one of the rings she has had for the longest time.
And those are all the rings I have! And trust me when I say that I put all of these rings on at the same time. It might be a little ring overload, but hey, if I’m gonna wear one I might as well wear them all! I’m super picky when it comes to jewelry because I want them to hold up and not tarnish at all, and none of these rings have done that. It’s taken years to build up these pieces, and each one has a special meaning to me. Call me weird or whatever you want, but hey, it’s true! Hope you guys have a great one, thanks for stopping by!
