My Go-To Snacks and Meals

My Go-To Snacks and Meals

Food. We can’t really live without it. If you’re anything like me, you get a little hangry from time to time if you’ve gone long periods of time without having it. And that’s a hazard to everyone around you. Food consumes my thoughts. What will I have next, when will I have it? Anyone else a little food crazy? Just me? Ok. These past few weeks I keep reaching for the same foods from snacks to meals, so I thought I’d share today the top 5 favorite things I’ve been consuming recently!

#1 Protein Shake

This is the exact same protein shake that I made a post about a couple of months ago, and I haven’t gotten sick of it yet! I only like to have it after my strength training days, making it two times a week. This recipe just consists of peanut butter, banana, pea protein powder and dairy-free milk. It’s pretty basic and unoriginal, but I’ve been trying to cut back on my dairy, so if you want to check out the specific ingredients check out that post! I use this shake as a meal replacement because it does keep me full for a long time and satisfies all my cravings!

#2 Blueberries

I wish I could say that I could get a container of blueberries and have it last me the entire week, but…that’s not the case. Let’s just be thankful that they make it to the cash register. I have no portion control when it comes to blueberries. Absolutely none. I can demolish a gallon of them in one sitting and still eat more. So, these past few weeks I’ve been snacking on them a lot when I need a little something throughout the day! Best fruit ever.

#3 Big Salad

I feel like salads get a bad rap, but it’s one of my favorite things to make at home. However, you just can’t throw some lettuce in a bowl with salad dressing and call that a meal! It’s not filling and it’s honestly kind of depressing. My go-to salad currently is throwing cups of spinach in a huge bowl with one whole small avocado, sunflower seeds, and a lot of lunch meat. The lunch meat part sounds kind of weird, but trust me when I say that turkey or ham lunch meat is awesome in a salad. I like to top it off with my favorite salad dressing, either white balsamic vinaigrette or the fire roasted poblano ranch from Kroger’s Private Selection. Once the spring time hits, I like to add strawberries and blueberries! I guess I could’ve put blueberries in my salad this time, but uhh…they didn’t last very long. The salad has those fats and that source of protein to actually keep you full, and I thoroughly enjoy it!

#4 Chips and Salsa

Another one of my favorite snacks here recently is some chips and salsa. I feel like this is super random, but I’m currently obsessed. If I’m still feeling hungry a while after dinner, I just like to have this as a way to try and satisfy that hunger! I’m trying to limit my dairy and gluten intake because if I have too much it upsets my stomach (thanks Everlywell for opening my eyes to my sensitivity), so this is one snack that I don’t have to think about containing those things. Maybe the tortilla chips aren’t the best in the world for you, but they are delicious nonetheless!

#5 Peanut Butter and Banana

On the days that I’m not having a protein shake, I love having a banana with peanut butter. This is probably one of my favorite combos ever. If you would’ve told me in middle school that I would’ve grown up to like bananas, I wouldn’t have believed you. I hated the texture and everything, but now? Bananas are one of my top favorite fruits. I like to have this either as an afternoon snack or if I need something light before a workout to give me a little boost!

And those are my top foods that I’ve been repeatedly consuming! Of course these aren’t all the things I’ve been eating, but they are what I’ve been gravitating towards most! Nothing original or groundbreaking, but these foods have been hitting the spot for me. Thanks for stopping by today to read about my food cravings! Writing this post is honestly making me super hungry though, so I think I’m gonna go get something to eat, ok bye!
