Goals I Actually Kept in 2019

Goals I Actually Kept in 2019

With the New Year approaching, I thought it would be fun to see what goals and resolutions I actually stuck with throughout the year. I like to have a complete list of goals or habits that I want to accomplish for the year to come, but I don’t see this as a set in stone list of things I have to achieve by the end of the year. These are just suggestions that I don’t have to start immediately, but may want to start at some point during the year. A new resolution doesn’t have to start on a specific date, January 1st. It can start whenever you want to set your mind on doing something new and changing a bad habit you may have. You just have to have the right mindset and you have to be committed. So yea, I had a lot on my list for 2019, and I didn’t even accomplish half of those things, but that’s totally ok in my opinion. They were just suggestions, and I’m not going to be hard on myself for that. I prioritized and made time for the things that mattered to me the most, and that’s all I could ask of myself! So with that being said, here’s the 4 resolutions that I actually accomplished this year:

Reading 15 Books in a Year

One of my proudest accomplishments of this year was being able to read 15 book in one year. If you would’ve told me this back in July, I wouldn’t have believed you. I was six books into this goal, and I had no idea how I would reach 15, but I did! I wrote down all the books that I wanted to read for the rest of the year, and I set to doing just that. Somehow I did it! I don’t think I’ve enjoyed reading as much as I have these past 4 months. There’s so many amazing stories to delve into, you just have to start them! I’m eager to start reading more books in the new year, so get ready for a reading list coming soon 🙂

Working Out 5 Days a Week

I grew up playing sports year round, and it wasn’t until I went to college that all the effort and commitment was on me to stay fit and active. I loved running, but every time I would try to be consistent with actually working out, I always ended up falling out of it. I would go a week or so, but then things would get busy, and I’d find that I hadn’t worked out in weeks. I let the excuses get the better of me, but in 2019, I said no more. I wanted to write down a specific fitness goal, so I went for working out 5 times a week. Of course every week wasn’t the same. Some weeks I had to do yoga because I would get sick and needed a light way to move my body. Some of those days were quick 10 to 15-minute ab exercises because I let the day get away from me. Either way, I logged in my fitness journal five times a week this year, and I’m so proud of this accomplishment. Now, I can’t imagine going longer than a day without working out. My body and my mind crave it, and I just feel so much better afterwards! I really fell in love with fitness this year, and I know that this is a habit that will continue moving forward.

Taking a Picture Everyday for a Year

I feel like this may be a random goal, but I really wanted to document 2019 by taking pictures of things that represented my day, everyday, whether that be what I was watching that day, what views I had going across the bridge, or maybe, guiltily, a quick selfie or outfit picture because I liked what I was wearing that day. My camera roll is now filled with 365 pictures, and I can’t wait to put them in an album. So much happened in 2019, and it will be a great way to reminisce on one of the busiest years of my life.

Starting a Blog

This goal was something I never thought I would do this year. I always toyed in my head with the notion of starting a blog, and the idea was really prominent in my mind at the beginning of this year. I never thought that I would actually go through with it. I just put in on my list as a suggestion I guess? I don’t know, but I think deep down I knew that this was what I wanted to do, and that’s why I wrote it down. It may have taken me a couple of months, ok, maybe 9 months to actually launch my blog, but hey, I did it! And I’m so so glad that I did. I love writing and documenting. Even though there aren’t that many people out there reading this blog, I still enjoy the process of creating content, and I do it for me, which I think is key and what pushes me to continue doing it.

Looking back on this year, I’m proud of all that I accomplished. Sure I set multiple intentions, probably too many, but these were the ones that I actually set my mind and time towards achieving. Are these the most groundbreaking and revolutionary goals? No, but they motivate me to keep working and growing in the future. I feel like whether you accomplish multiple goals or just one, it motivates you to just continue pushing yourself. You just have to take it one day at a time, and ask yourself what matters the most to you. Trying a million new habits around the same time isn’t sustainable, but when you try new habits here and there without it being overwhelming, you can figure out what works best for you!

And that’s a wrap for this post! This coming Friday I’ll be coming with my 2020 goals, so get ready for that 🙂 Thanks for coming by and reading this post, hope you have a great one!
