Fall Movie Checklist for 2019

Fall Movie Checklist for 2019

Watching movies has always been one of my favorite past times ever since I was a kid. If I just need to tune out the world and escape, but can’t go anywhere, I usually can turn a movie on and be enthralled with a story, even if it’s one that I’ve seen 100 times. My brothers and I have always been able to watch and quote movies and throw them into everyday conversation. I think my mind is primarily composed of song lyrics and movie quotes, and my mother would attest to that!

There’s certain movies that I like to watch at certain points throughout the year, and as the holiday season approaches, the more there is I want to watch! So, because I’m such a movie watcher, I’ve created a list of movies that I want to watch this fall season that will get me in the mood! This list consists of movies that either takes place at Halloween or because it just reminds me of the season. I am not and never will be a horror movie fan, but I have a couple of my favorite thriller movies listed below. Other than that, I do like a wide range of genres so hopefully this list conveys that!

  1. Practical Magic

Sandra Bullock was one of my favorite actresses growing up, and still is to this day. Even though I’ve seen most of her movies, I had never seen Practical Magic until a couple of years ago, and it’s now one of my all time favorites to watch during this time of year! It’s perfect for the Halloween season because the story chronicles Sandra Bullock’s character and her sister, played by Nicole Kidman, who are witches. It’s hard to believe that this movie is 22 years old, but it’s a classic in my book, or I mean, movie collection?

2. Mean Girls

I know that Mean Girls follows Cadie’s entire school year, but I always have to watch this movie during this time of the year. There’s just something about it being October 3rd that makes me want to watch it 🙂

3. Signs

This is one movie that is supposed to be suspenseful, but to my family and I, it’s actually kind of hilarious. It centers around a family during an alien invasion and has a great cast with Joaquin Phoenix and Abigail Breslin .I haven’t seen this movie in years, and it seems like the perfect time to rewatch it! Is it just me, or does this water taste funny?

4. The Hunger Games Series

With all of the fire and darkness within this series, it always reminds me of the fall time, especially when all the movies except the first one released in November. So, if you’ve read my reading list, you’ll know that I had the first book on my list. Once I finished reading it, I HAD to watch the movie. Which made me watch another…and then another. It brought back so much nostalgia and I ended up watching all of the movies in four days…whoops.

5. When We First Met

This is a romantic comedy that takes places during Halloween. It’s about this guy who’s been in love with a girl for a long time, but gets friend-zoned and tries to travel back in time via a phone booth time machine to make her fall in love with him. This isn’t the most original movie in the entire world, but I still love it regardless. It’s a feel good movie and is one of my favorite Netflix originals that never gets too corny for me!

6. A Cinderella Story

This is another movie that brings back all the childhood memories. I LOVED Hilary Duff growing up and this was one of my favorite movies she did.  Can you believe that I actually watched this on a thing called a VHS player??? With the Halloween homecoming dance and homecoming game, this is one movie that gives me the basic “fall feels.”

7. Get Out

Here is my one true suspenseful movie on this list. I love director Jordan Peele, and even though I hate scary movies, I had to watch this one, and it was brilliant. It’s a storyline that really gets you invested in the movie and you can’t take your eyes off the screen. It’s the perfect movie to watch during this time of year if your in the mood for a thriller.

8. Remember the Titans

For most people, fall and football go hand in hand together. This is the perfect sports movie to watch when it’s a nice fall night and there aren’t any football games on TV. I feel like you can’t go throughout the fall season without watching this great Denzel Washington movie!

9. Hotel Transylvania

This is an animated movie that I actually found to be really funny and I enjoyed the movies that followed. It’s a perfect Halloween kid’s movie that isn’t scary, but more laid back, humorous and “Blah blah blah” (if you’ve seen the movie you’ll get the reference haha).

10. Harry Potter

I’m so sorry for the amount of times I’ve mentioned Harry Potter on this blog, but what about one more time?! Halloween isn’t Halloween without putting on a Harry Potter movie! Does anyone want to have a movie marathon with me where we can binge all these movies?

And that finishes off my checklist!! I feel like I said fall and Halloween about 100 times each throughout this post, and for that, I am sorry and am so glad you made it here to the end! I’d love to know what is on your watch list this season! Hope you have a great one!
