Books I’m Reading by March 31st

If you happened to have read my last post about how I got in the habit of working out, you’ll know that I mentioned if you have a general goal, chances are you won’t succeed in accomplishing it. However, the more specific you are, the more likely you’ll accomplish those goals. Once you break that goal into steps, the overall goal seems less daunting. This is the approach I’m taking in regards to my goal of reading 17 books that I mentioned in my resolutions post. Last year, I set out to read 15 books, and I wasn’t specific enough and ended up reading only 5 books by the middle of the year. I was certain I wouldn’t finish that goal, but then I wrote out all of the books that I would read by the end of the year, and guess what? I did it! So instead of waiting that long to get on top of it, I thought I’d share my first piece of accomplishing that 17 book goal for this year. I decided to write out 5 books that I will have read by March 31st. Once you break that 17 books up, the task seems a little less overwhelming. So here are my 5 books:

#1 Where the Crawdads Sing by Deila Owen

I’ve mentioned this book before in my book haul last year, and this is the first book that I read in 2020. Yup, that’s right, not will read this year, but already read. I can tell you one thing, I was absolutely not expecting to read this book within the first week of the new year, but that’s exactly what happened. I could not put this book down! You just had to know what becomes of the “Marsh girl.” I highly recommend this book and totally get why I’ve been seeing everyone read it recently!

#2 The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein

I don’t know about you guys, but I grew up on The Lord of the Rings movies. We had all the action figures and I feel like we watched those movies all the time! Although I love those movies, I have never read the books. So I thought this year I would finally put it on my list to actually read, but first, I wanted to read the Tolkein’s first book, The Hobbit. I’m currently reading this right now and have been really enjoying it. It’s been making me want to watch The Hobbit movie trilogy and compare the book to the movie!

#3 Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Lessby Greg Mckeown

This is a non-fiction book that has been on my list to get for a long time! I ended up getting it for Christmas, and I’m excited to read this one because it seems to be about focusing on what really matters to you, which sounds simple, but it seems in this day and age we are scattered from one thing to the next, consuming way too much stuff and information than what we need.

#4 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling

I’ve mentioned it before, but I love Harry Potter! The fifth book of the HP series I ended up finishing a couple of months ago, and I have to finish the rest of the series, right? This was an easy one to add to the list!

#5 One Day in December by Josie Silver

I mentioned this in my shopping haul, and I thought it would be a good one to read at the beginning of this year. I’m eager to start it because it is based in one of my favorite places in the world, London. I didn’t touch on what the book was about in that post, but it’s just about this woman who catches the eyes of this guy on the red double-decker bus and knows “He’s the one.” She starts scanning every single bus afterwards to find this mystery guy, only to find out that her best friend starts dating him. Gasp. This storyline reminds me a lot of Four Weddings and a Funeral the TV show, and since I loved that show, I thought I’d give this one a try! It says on the cover that it was a book in Reese’s book club if that’s any consolation for how good of a book it’s supposed to be 🙂

And those are all the books I’m going to finish by March 31st! I figured 5 books would be easier, that way I can plan every few months instead of planning all the books I’ll read for this year. You just never know what’s going to spark your interests! Thanks for stopping by today, happy reading! Hope you have a great week!
