5 Items I Can’t Live Without (As of Right Now)

So on the GQ YouTube channel, one of their segments is that they interview guests about the 10 things they can’t live without. I’v enjoyed watching them for a while now, and I thought it’d be fun to do it for the blog, except today I’m just gonna do 5! This was actually a little harder than what I thought it was going to be, not because I have so many items, but because of how few I had? Everyone says their phone, and I didn’t want to be that person because I mean, everybody has a phone. I don’t like using it all the time and I wish I could live without it sometimes, but hey, it is what it is! So here it goes, these are my 5 things I can’t live without…as of right now.

Blue Light Blocking Glasses

As I’m writing this post, I’m currently wearing my blue light blocking glasses. Back in college, with textbooks being online and a majority of the work being done online, I felt like I was looking at the screen way too much, which I felt was bad for my eyes. I’ve never gotten migraines or anything from it, but I did notice that early mornings when I’d look at the screen, my eyes would feel heavy in a way when looking at that blue light. So I went on Amazon and found this pair for less than $20, and they’ve held up nicely for the two years I’ve had them. Whenever I’m writing my blog posts I will try to always wear these to protect my eyes!

Water Bottle

I love my Nalgene water bottles, and I don’t think I could ever live without them. Wherever I’m going, I will always fill up one to have it with me! If you can’t tell, this red one has been so well used that all the markings on the side have come off, and the Nalgene logo is starting to wear off too. I try my best to drink at least 3 to 4 of these a day, but of course there are days that I fall off track. You better believe 9 times out of 10 when you see me, you will see me with a water bottle!

Pen and Pad, For To Do Lists Of Course

If you are familiar with the Enneagram, and Type 1’s specifically, you’ll know that a to do list is synonymous with the Type 1, and I am a Type 1. I’m all about some organization and keeping things in order, and that means I need my to do list! It is very satisfying to tick things off of the to do list, and it just makes me feel like I’m actually being productive. I also love utilizing to do lists because I don’t have to constantly remind myself throughout the day to do something. There were times when I felt like I had to do 20 things because they were all circulating through my mind, but when I sat down to write all that I needed to do, it wasn’t that many. By having a to do list you don’t have to constantly be thinking about what you have to do, you just address the list and then get it done. It frees up my mind and my thoughts, and that is definitely why a top essential of mine is a to do list!

Garmin Watch

Smart watches have become such a craze these past few years, and I feel totally basic bringing up how much I love mine. A few years ago, I had the FitBit Charge and it fell apart after a year. There was warranty and they sent me a new one, but that one fell apart within months of getting it. Ever since then, even though the FitBit’s may have changed, I’ve always been hesitant towards them. They aren’t water proof (well at least mine wasn’t), and you have to charge them. In comes in my life changer. I ended up getting the Garmin Vívofit 3, and my goodness do I love this watch. It’s pretty simple compared to the other smart watches, but honestly all I want out of my watch is to tell me time and maybe tell me my steps every once and a while.

I got my Garmin in 2017, and I’ve loved it ever since. It’s waterproof so you don’t have to rip it off when you are in the shower because you momentarily forgot to take it off right before (this happened with my FitBit a few times, but not the reason it fell apart I assure you). And it is battery operated so you never have to charge it! It wasn’t until last summer of 2019 that I had to change the battery. So you can basically put this watch on and do your regular routine without having to think about charging it or getting water damage.

I would say don’t go to the pool and completely submerge it for minutes on end, because I think that’s how my watch died last summer but I’m not certain! I did have to change the battery out a couple of weeks ago, and I had to go an entire day without my watch on and it was the weirdest thing ever. I never realized how much I used or looked at my watch throughout the day until I would look at my wrist and see nothing but my watch tan. I immediately got home and changed it because I couldn’t go another day with a bare wrist!

MacBook Pro

My last and final item to share to day is my baby, my MacBook Pro. I’ve had this computer since the summer of 2015, and I’ve used it basically everyday since then and it’s still holding up great. This computer is where I do everything: budgeting, blogging, watching YouTube videos, you name it. As long as I have this computer, I can basically do anything and everything. This computer is the most expensive thing I have ever purchased, but it was totally worth it, and I don’t think I ever will regret it. It has been the most reliable item, and I seriously don’t think I could live without it!

When I sat down to write this post, I really didn’t think it would be as long as what it is right now. I guess I depend on these items more than I thought I did! Of course they are just inanimate objects that can easily be replaced, but at this point in life they are my must haves and make my life a lot easier. Thanks for stopping by and reading today’s post, hope you have an amazing week!
