23: My Birthday Weekend

And suddenly, I’m 23. That is still so weird to say. On Sunday I turned 23, and now I’m officially in my Jordan year. I was saying the other day that that does mean that I have to buy a pair of Jordan’s, right? The consensus is yes, of course! But anyways, Jordan’s aside, I had a great weekend. I decided not to post yesterday because I just needed a day to be lazy and not do anything, and that is exactly what I did.

On Saturday, my family and I travelled to a wedding of a close friend, and while that was so much fun seeing him get married, it was a long day! Sunday was my birthday, and gosh, it really was a great day filled with my favorite things. It was off to a funny start because I had accidentally left my phone in my brother’s car the night before. Whoops. So Sunday morning we drove over and picked that up because it might be weird not responding to anyone all day!

The afternoon consisted of doing one of my favorite things, which is watching some baseball. September 6th was not only a great day because I was born, but it’s a great day in baseball history. September 6th, 1995 was when Cal Ripken Jr. broke Lou Gehrig’s record, playing in 2,131 consecutive games. It was the 25th anniversary, and of course we had to watch some O’s baseball! My Dad is a Baltimore Orioles fan, and Cal was one of his favorite players. I read his book a few months ago, and watching the interview he did on MLB Network made me want to read it all over again because he really seems like such a great guy. It feels like he embodies all of my family’s values, and even though I never got to watch him play, it’s been so cool to relive all that he did through his book and watching him on Sunday.

Ok, before I get carried away with baseball, after the game was over, the rest of my family came over for my birthday party. It was a great time celebrating with my favorite people in this world. My Mom went above and beyond and creating the street taco bar of my dreams, and made my favorite blueberry dessert. The food was amazing, thanks Mom!! <3

It really was a great day, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday being with the people that I love most in this world. It came and went so fast though! I’m ready and excited to see what 23 will bring me this year, I hope it will be a great year!
